Cheap cruises from Florida are the backbone of budget cruising. More cruises leave Florida than anywhere else in the world, and the competition between lines and ports keeps short Bahamas and Caribbean fares low. Here is the budget-minded port guide.

Saving Around the Florida Cruise

  • Drive in: the biggest saving on a Florida cruise is often skipping the flight.
  • Park smart: compare port and off-site lots; Free Cruise Parking explains the options.
  • Sail midweek: some short cruises leave on weekdays, when fares can be lower.
  • Choose a smaller port: Tampa and Palm Beach are quicker to get through.

Florida Cruise Questions

Which Florida port has the cheapest cruises?

There is no single answer. PortMiami and Port Canaveral have the most sailings and the most competition. Tampa, Jacksonville and Palm Beach have fewer ships but short, often low-priced itineraries and easier parking.

What is the cheapest cruise from Florida to the Bahamas?

Usually a short two- to four-night sailing on a budget line from Miami, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville or Palm Beach. Compare total price, including taxes and port fees, for your dates.

Short Florida Cruises: What to Expect

The cheapest Florida cruises are usually two to five nights to the Bahamas, sometimes with a stop at a line’s private island or in Key West, or four to five nights to Cozumel and the Western Caribbean from Tampa or Miami. They are lively, especially on weekends, and make a good first cruise. Longer seven-night Caribbean sailings cost more in total but can cost less per night.

Embarkation day in Florida is straightforward: arrive at your assigned time, drop bags with porters, check in with your documents and walk aboard. Disembarkation is early in the morning, so book an afternoon flight home if you are flying.

Getting to a Florida Port Without Overspending

Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando (for Port Canaveral), Tampa, Jacksonville and Palm Beach all have airports close to the piers, so compare flights into each rather than only the obvious one. A flight into Orlando, for example, may suit a Port Canaveral sailing better than Miami. Fly in the day before: a missed embarkation is the most expensive mistake on any cheap cruise.
